Diplomats from Turkmenistan and the Republic of Lithuania discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation

Prospects for developing bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Lithuania were discussed at a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov and Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania Vidmantas Verbickas. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on October 30.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for developing bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Lithuania in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural and humanitarian spheres, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is noted that the diplomats explored the possibility of organizing mutual high-level and high-level meetings, which are key to the further development of interstate cooperation.
The level of development of trade and economic relations between the two countries was analyzed. In this context, the role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Lithuanian Commission on Economic Cooperation and the need for its next meeting were emphasized.
Expanding transport connectivity between the countries was also discussed. In this regard, Lithuania expressed interest in developing cooperation with Turkmenistan in the transport and logistics sector.
Emphasizing the need to strengthen interparliamentary dialogue, the parties discussed the possibility of holding the first meeting of the Turkmen-Lithuanian Interparliamentary Friendship Group.
The interlocutors noted the effectiveness of the two countries' partnership within regional and international structures, particularly the EU and the UN.
The importance of developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation, particularly in education, science, sports, and tourism, was also emphasized during the talks.
Particular attention was paid to preparations for the International Forum on Peace and Trust, which will be held in Ashgabat on December 12 in honor of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, the International Year of Peace and Trust, and International Neutrality Day.
