As part of the developing academic exchange between Turkmenistan and China, a group of students from the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University (IOGU) is currently undergoing intensive educational and industrial training at the China University of Petroleum (CUP) in Beijing, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper writes.

The three-week program includes not only a deep dive into theoretical knowledge, but also practical acquaintance with advanced technologies. Students visit university laboratories, modern educational and research centers of CUP. An important part of the program is familiarization visits to key institutions such as the Geological Museum of China, the Science and Technology Museum, as well as CNPC production facilities, which allows them to get an idea of real production processes.

As part of the program, students take short-term courses in such areas as the basics of the Chinese language and culture, green energy and carbon reduction, the future of oil and gas, and energy cooperation along the Silk Road. These topics reflect current global trends, including greening energy, achieving carbon neutrality, and the strategic importance of resource transportation in the Eurasian region.

In parallel with their studies in China, another group of IOGU students undergo industrial training at the Turkmen branch of CNPC International Ltd. This approach allows students to harmoniously combine advanced international and valuable domestic experience within one educational cycle, which is extremely important for the formation of comprehensively developed specialists.

The organization of such programs for training highly qualified personnel for the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan plays a key role in adapting advanced international practices and creating a sustainable model for training new generation professionals. Against the backdrop of the global transition to green energy and the active implementation of smart technologies (artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, automation), such initiatives are of particular importance. China demonstrates an example of systemic progress, where higher education institutions are closely integrated with manufacturing clusters, and curricula are focused on the realities of Industry 4.0, providing young people with the necessary skills for the future. Such effective practice became possible thanks to the Memorandums of Understanding signed in 2023 between IOGU, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and CUP. These agreements are designed to stimulate academic exchange, improve professional skills and integrate successful Chinese educational practices into Turkmen universities.
