The Cheleken Peninsula, located on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea, according to experts, contains huge resources of hydrocarbon raw materials. The first information on oil produced there dates back to 1876. The current area of ​​the peninsula, stretching from the west to the east, is about five hundred square kilometers. The peninsula is geologically located in the Caspian Depression and is composed of Mesozoic and Quaternary sedimentary rocks.
