President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking on Thursday at the 16th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Tashkent, announced his readiness to increase gas and electricity supplies to the countries of the Organization, TDH reports.
According to the head of Turkmenistan, the fact that global energy markets are in a generally unstable state is one of the main challenges for developing an effective ECO cooperation model.
“This, first of all, is necessary to meet the growing energy needs of our countries to increase the capacity of new industrial complexes and agriculture, construct infrastructure facilities and launch joint production projects,” the President of Turkmenistan emphasized.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov recalled that Turkmenistan has put forward a number of large energy projects, in which some ECO countries also participate. The head of Turkmenistan also invited partner countries to expand cooperation in the energy sector with the aim of creating an energy supply system that includes the ECO space.
“For my part, I can say that Turkmenistan is ready to increase the volume of supplies of natural gas and electricity to the ECO countries through the currently available capacities and those that will be built in the future,” the President of Turkmenistan said.
Currently, members of the ECO are Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
