Russia is discussing the growth of gas supplies for the domestic markets of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan against the backdrop of an increase in their consumption of this type of fuel. This was stated in an interview with TASS by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
He also said that Russia agreed with Azerbaijan to increase gas supplies for its domestic consumption, and in the future it may discuss swap supplies.
In the longer term, Russia may send its natural gas to the markets of Afghanistan and Pakistan, either using the infrastructure of Central Asia, or through an exchange from the territory of Iran, the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Under the proposed swap scheme, Iran would import gas from Russia either via Turkmenistan or Azerbaijan to consume it in its northern regions, while committing to deliver the same amount of gas to the border with Pakistan.
