The parliamentarians of the countries of Central Asia and Russia must develop and adopt operational decisions for the development of economic cooperation in strategic areas. This was stated by the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, speaking the day before at the first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the countries of Central Asia and Russia in Ashgabat.
“Economic ties play a special role in the multifaceted cooperation of our states. This is natural: the countries of Central Asia and Russia form a natural and complementary space with significant human potential, the largest reserves of natural resources, production and technological capacities and united by geographical proximity,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.
“To implement this resource, to establish mutually beneficial long-term partnerships is an objective need for our countries, an important factor in their economic and social development. I am convinced that here the parliamentarians cannot remain on the sidelines,” the head of the Turkmen parliament continued.
“In such strategic areas as transport, energy, industrial cooperation, it is necessary to create and use mechanisms of international legal support, work on convergence and harmonization of national legislation, elimination of legal and other barriers that hinder partnerships and business ties,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized.
“We expect demanded and prompt decisions from parliamentarians,” the head of the Turkmen parliament added.
