The creation of a gas pipeline along the bottom of the Caspian Sea from Turkmenistan to Turkey will be beneficial for these countries and will help ensure the energy security of the European Union. This was stated to journalists by US Ambassador to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood, TASS reports.

"The United States has always supported the export of Turkmen gas in many directions in order to stimulate and develop the Turkmen economy. We believe that the creation of the infrastructure of the gas pipeline, which will run along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, will reach Turkey, and then further to European markets, will be beneficial for Turkmenistan, as well as for Turkey and the EU <...>. This would also ensure the energy security of European countries," Rood said.

TASS also notes that Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar visited Turkmenistan in July of this year and held talks on the supply of Turkmen natural gas to the Turkish and European markets.  In May 2024, Turkey and Azerbaijan signed a cooperation agreement in the gas sector. It envisages the transit of about 2 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas through the territory of Azerbaijan and Georgia, which is then supposed to be transported to Europe.
