Last Tuesday, a telephone conversation took place between President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports today.

At the beginning of the conversation, the heads of state exchanged congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of Oraza Bayram, expressing confidence that this holiday will serve to further develop fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples.

Having stated the dynamic nature of the interstate dialogue, the interlocutors exchanged views on the priority areas of bilateral cooperation, built on the principles of mutual respect, trust, long-term and close partnership.

Noting that 2022 is marked for Turkmenistan and Turkey by the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the parties stated that constructive political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties have been established between the countries during this period.  At the same time, the presence of favorable conditions for expanding cooperation across its entire spectrum was emphasized.

It was also noted that Turkmenistan and Turkey successfully interact in a multilateral format, through international and regional organizations, as evidenced by mutual support provided within the framework of the UN, ECO and the Organization of Turkic States.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov, referring to trade and economic cooperation, noted that Turkey is one of the strategic partners of Turkmenistan.  In this regard, the need was emphasized to involve the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish Commission on Economic Cooperation and the Business Council as key tools for strengthening partnerships and implementing new joint large-scale projects.
