Serdar Berdimuhamedov discussed the prospects for cooperation with the Prime Minister of Japan by phone

 President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida on Wednesday, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

 First of all, the Japanese prime minister congratulated Serdar Berdimuhamedov on his convincing victory in the elections and on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which both countries will celebrate on April 22.

 As Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, over the past three decades, Turkmenistan and Japan have significantly expanded cooperation, both in the trade, economic and humanitarian fields.  The interlocutors also emphasized the effectiveness of interaction on the platform of the Dialogue «Central Asia + Japan».

 During the conversation, the effective nature of interstate cooperation in the trade and economic sphere was noted.  It was emphasized that for many years leading Japanese companies have been productively working in various sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan.

 As an example of effective cooperation, the head of Turkmenistan cited interaction in the chemical and gas processing industries.  The wide use of advanced technologies and Japanese-made equipment in the construction of new power plants in Turkmenistan was also noted.

 Confirming the interest in strengthening the interstate dialogue with Japan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov said that support for the activities of Japanese companies in Turkmenistan would continue to be provided.

 One of the topics of the conversation was the upcoming 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit on April 23-24 in the Japanese city of Kumamoto.  Expressing gratitude for the invitation to take part in the upcoming summit, the President of Turkmenistan stressed that today the rational and efficient use of water resources is the main guarantee of sustainable and stable development.

 The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Japanese side.
