 The newly elected President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that he intends to continue to implement the foreign policy pursued by our country to expand cooperation with the UN, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

 This was announced on Tuesday in a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General António Guterres.  The UN Secretary General congratulated Serdar Berdimuhamedov on his victory in the elections and wished him great success in the highest state post.

 Before that, Guterres talked with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who announced the results of the elections in our country and his intention to continue his activities as chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh.

 António Guterres highly appreciated the contribution of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in support of the UN, noting that over the 15 years of his activity as President of Turkmenistan, contacts have been deepened in many vital areas, including the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the solution of world problems.
