Serdar Berdimuhamedov: Turkmenistan will continue the course to expanding mutually beneficial partnership with Russia

 Turkmenistan will continue the course towards progressive expansion of mutually beneficial partnership with Russia.  This was stated on Tuesday by newly elected President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in a telephone conversation with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

 Warmly congratulating the newly elected head of the Turkmen state on his convincing victory in the elections, Vladimir Putin wished him great success in his activities in this important and responsible post.

 Expressing sincere gratitude to the Russian leader for congratulations and heartfelt wishes, the newly elected President of Turkmenistan, for his part, expressed his readiness to continue the course initiated by the leader of the nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov towards the progressive expansion of mutually beneficial partnership with Russia.

 In this regard, it was noted that good traditions of friendship and cooperation have historically developed between the two countries, which meet long-term mutual interests, and also correspond to the strategy of interstate relations.

 Vladimir Putin's conversation with the newly elected President of Turkmenistan was preceded by a conversation with Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

 The head of the Turkmen state briefed V. Putin on the results of the presidential elections held on a democratic basis on March 12.  At the same time, the Turkmen leader noted that he intends to continue his active work, but in a new capacity – the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan.
