GDP growth rate of Turkmenistan for January-February remains at the level of 6.2%

In January-February, the GDP growth rate of Turkmenistan remains at the level of 6.2%. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced this at a government meeting last Friday, at which the results of the country's socio-economic development for two months of 2022 were discussed.
The head of state also noted that over two months the growth rate in agriculture amounted to 3.2%, in trade – 8.8%, in the transport and communications sector – 4%.
At present, large-scale construction of various facilities worth $37 billion, mainly for social purposes, continues, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, adding that most of these new buildings worth over $18 billion are being built by domestic construction and installation organizations.
The head of state mentioned that, given the current situation in the global economy, it is important to maintain the achieved growth rates.
Also during the meeting, Vice-Chairman Serdar Berdimuhamedov reported on macroeconomic indicators for January-February 2022. He noted that compared to the same period last year, overall production increased by 10.7%, the volume of retail trade increased by 10.6%, foreign trade turnover – by 30.7%.
For January-February, the revenue part of the State budget was executed at the level of 106.1%, and the expenditure part – by 96.9%.
It was also reported that for large and medium-sized enterprises, the average monthly salary increased by 10.4% compared to the same period in 2021. Wages, pensions, state benefits and student scholarships have been fully funded.
