Cooperation in the fields of energy and transport considered at the inter-ministerial consultations of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan

Issues of deepening cooperation in transport and logistics, energy and other areas were discussed during the inter-MFA consultations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, held on Monday in Tashkent, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.

The Turkmen side at the meeting was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Berdyniyaz Myatiev, the Uzbek side - by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Vladimir Norov.

During the consultations, the parties noted the dynamics of the development of Turkmen-Uzbek relations, emphasizing the key role of high-level visits in promoting bilateral relations.

 Particular emphasis is placed on the issues of strengthening cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, where there is a solid potential for joint work.

In this regard, the importance of a joint intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation was noted.  The issues of developing the legal framework for cooperation between the two countries were also discussed.

During the meeting, issues of developing partnerships in the chemical and industrial sectors and in the field of information security were also considered.

Speaking about interaction in the region, the parties stressed the unity in the desire to help fraternal Afghanistan achieve peace, harmony and stability as soon as possible, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

In this regard, it was noted that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan continue to provide comprehensive economic and humanitarian support to Afghanistan.

Since the opening of the transnational Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline in 2009, over 320 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas have been exported to the Celestial Empire. General director of the branch of the National Petroleum Corporation of China (CNPC) Chen Huailong stated this, the Watan news program of the Turkmen television reported.

Today, March 26, the grand opening of the Information and Analytical Center was held at the Natural Gas Research Institute of the State Concern "Turkmengas".
