The fuel and energy complex remains one of the key areas of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation

On July 27, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd, TDH reports.

The guest noted the great importance Iran attaches to strengthening friendly relations with Turkmenistan. Taking the opportunity, she conveyed greetings from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to the President of Turkmenistan and the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.

Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd emphasized the significance of the Hero-Arkadag’s recent visit and the meetings held during it with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and the Chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in the context of giving a new impetus to the bilateral ties.

Addressing return greetings to the President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the forthcoming meetings and talks with her Turkmen counterparts during the visit of IRI Minister of Roads and Urban Development will contribute to the further development of interstate relations.

As emphasized, the interstate dialogue is currently developing bilaterally and within international organizations, based on the principles of mutual respect and understanding. Trade and economic ties are an important component of cooperation. Iran occupies a leading position in Turkmenistan’s foreign trade turnover.

Effective and mutually beneficial partnerships are developing in the fuel and energy, transport and communications, construction and agricultural sectors. Contacts between representatives of the private sector are intensifying.

In this context, the interlocutors underscored the key role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in expanding Turkmen-Iranian cooperation. Its activities are aimed at identifying new opportunities and areas for partnerships and facilitating the implementation of specific measures to fulfill agreements reached at the highest level.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the further development and strengthening of their constructive interstate relations in the interests of the friendly peoples of the two countries.

Today, March 26, the grand opening of the Information and Analytical Center was held at the Natural Gas Research Institute of the State Concern "Turkmengas".
