The new tanker "Dostluk," designed for transporting petroleum products, arrived at the Turkmenbashi International Port. This vessel was a valuable gift from Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan, the Turkmenistan International Information Center reported on June 28.

Festive events unfolded in the port harbor to celebrate the arrival of the crew and the new ship. Representatives of port services, officials, elders, and youth gathered on the shore to greet the tanker "Dostluk." Turkmen creative groups and dance ensembles performed on the pier to the sounds of traditional musical instruments. In keeping with the ancient custom of hospitality, the ship's crew was greeted with national treats.

The tanker "Dostluk" was handed over to the Turkmen side during the recent state visit of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Baku.

The vessel, designed to strengthen Turkmenistan's merchant fleet, was built by shipbuilders at the Baku Shipyard. The tanker meets all modern environmental standards and maritime safety requirements. It is 141 meters long, 17 meters wide, and has a deadweight capacity of nearly 8,000 tons. It is designed to transport crude oil and various petroleum products across the Caspian Sea and beyond.

The ship's name symbolizes the friendship of nations and refers to the agreement on the joint development of the Caspian hydrocarbon field, which the countries are jointly implementing.

The new tanker will begin its first commercial voyages in the coming days, contributing to the development of transport and transit corridors in the region.
