Prospects for trade and economic cooperation outlined at a meeting of the Turkmen-Georgian intergovernmental commission

Prospects for cooperation in the trade and economic sphere were discussed during the fifth meeting of the Turkmen-Georgian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, held on May 7 in Ashgabat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic sphere and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further deepening their partnership across a wide range of areas.
Particular attention was paid to intensifying trade and economic ties, with transport, energy, and the oil and gas sectors identified as priority areas.
Increasing mutual trade turnover, stimulating investment activity, and creating favorable conditions for interaction between the business communities of the two countries were also discussed.
Transport and logistics, particularly the development of the Caspian Sea – Black Sea and Lapis Lazuli Corridor international corridors, as well as the efficient use of port infrastructure transit potential, assumed strategic importance during the discussions.
Following the commission's work, a final protocol was signed, formalizing the agreements reached and outlining specific steps for the implementation of promising joint projects.
The Turkmen side was led by Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan Nazar Agahanov, and the Georgian side was led by Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili. Heads of relevant ministries and agencies from both countries participated in the meeting.
During the Georgian delegation's visit to Ashgabat, meetings were held between the heads of relevant ministries and agencies from Turkmenistan and Georgia.
