During a working visit to Azerbaijan, a Turkmen delegation led by Parahat Jumayev, Director of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, met with Eldar Salahov, CEO of Baku International Seaport LLC, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Gurbanmammet Elyasov also participated in the talks.

As emphasized during the meeting, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are consistently strengthening their strategic partnership, focusing on developing logistics cooperation between the international seaports of Turkmenbashi and Baku (Alat). In this context, particular importance is attached to increasing cargo traffic through the Caspian Sea, developing the Middle Corridor, and expanding transport links between the two countries amid growing mutual trade turnover.

The development of the ports of Turkmenbashi and Baku (Alat) is aimed at transforming them into key logistics hubs on the Caspian Sea, serving international East-West corridors. The main route linking the two ports facilitates the transshipment of oil, various cargoes, and railcars.

Following its modernization, the Turkmenbashi International Seaport has become a major transport hub, while the Baku Port in Alat continues to consistently expand its infrastructure, strengthening its role in both freight and passenger traffic and occupying a key position along the modern Silk Road route.

The parties also discussed issues related to the development of the Caspian Sea–Black Sea international transit and transport corridor, including prospects for increasing freight traffic through the ports of Turkmenbashi, Baku, Poti, Batumi, and Constanta. The importance of intensifying cooperation with all interested partners, including the European Union, was emphasized.
