Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited Japanese companies to participate in new projects in Turkmenistan

At a meeting on December 19 with the heads of leading Japanese companies, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited them to participate in a number of mutually beneficial projects, TDH reports.

The head of state highlighted energy, renewable energy, transport and logistics, high-tech and environmentally friendly production, water resource management, infrastructure modernization, and specialist training as priority areas.

In this context, a willingness to promote Japanese technologies and products in the Turkmen market was expressed in such areas as mechanical engineering, electronics, and the chemical industry.

The President noted Turkmenistan's interest in attracting advanced Japanese technologies and practices in water conservation, water treatment, waste management, and green and hydrogen energy.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov also emphasized that Turkmenistan places special emphasis on the transition to a circular economy. "We are working to modernize industrial infrastructure, develop waste recycling, and implement principles of rational resource use. We are well aware of the advanced solutions and technologies of Japanese companies in this area," the head of Turkmenistan said, proposing to consider a number of specific initiatives.

In particular, the President proposed developing a project to build a plant for recycling household and construction waste. The head of Turkmenistan also noted the feasibility of a project to treat wastewater for reuse in industry and public utilities, and confirmed his willingness to explore projects to build mini-plants for recycling PET plastic bottles to recycle polyethylene. A proposal was also made to explore the possibility of building a mini-plant for recycling household appliances.

During the meetings, the head of state reaffirmed Turkmenistan's firm commitment to developing and expanding partnerships with Japan, as well as his willingness to continue to provide comprehensive long-term support to the Japanese business presence in Turkmenistan.

The meeting was attended by executives and representatives of Sumitomo Corporation, Toyo Engineering Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., Muroosystems Corporation, ITOCHU Corporation, Tokyo Boeki Eurasia Limited, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., Mitsubishi Corporation, ARGONAVT Corporation, as well as Calik Holding and Gap Inşaat ve Diş Ticaret A.Ş.

The Japanese businessmen emphasized the importance of the proposals voiced by the Turkmen leader and expressed their readiness to cooperate in this area.
