UAE intends to double trade with Turkmenistan in coming years – Ambassador

The United Arab Emirates intends to double trade with Turkmenistan in the coming years. This was stated by Ahmed Al-Hay Al Hammeli, UAE Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan, in an article published in the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper on the occasion of the national holiday – State Proclamation Day.
The diplomat noted that "the volume of trade between the two countries in 2024 reached $1.759 billion (non-oil trade), representing a 75% increase compared to 2023. The UAE aims to double this figure in the coming years."
According to the ambassador, the UAE ranks third among Turkmenistan's trading partners for the first nine months of 2025. He emphasized the dynamic development of bilateral relations, particularly in the energy sector, noting ADNOC's entry into the Turkmen market.
The diplomat recalled that in May 2025, a production-sharing contract for the development of gas fields in Block No. 1 in the Caspian Sea was signed between XRG (ADNOC's investment arm), Petronas, and state-owned enterprises of Turkmenistan. A long-term gas sales agreement was also concluded.
