To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, the country's Central Bank will introduce modified polymer banknotes in denominations of 1, 5, and 10 manat, as well as a new polymer banknote in denominations of 200 manat, starting December 1 of this year, which is celebrated under the motto "International Year of Peace and Confidence," TDH reports.
According to a press release from the country's central bank, the main distinguishing features of the banknotes are their low probability of counterfeiting and their high resistance to external factors, such as dirt, wear, damage, etc. Furthermore, their security features have been enhanced, and visual indicators of authenticity have been improved.
The color and design of the 1, 5, and 10 manat banknotes remain largely unchanged, and they feature the emblem of the International Year of Peace and Confidence. The front of the 200 manat banknote features the Arkadag Monument, while the back features the Arkadag City Hall. The obverse of the modified manats and the new banknote displays the year of issue and a facsimile signature of the Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.
These banknotes are mandatory for acceptance at face value by all businesses, organizations, and institutions, regardless of ownership or field of activity, for all types of payments within the country. All Central Bank banknotes issued in 2009, 2012, 2014, 2017, and 2020 remain legal tender within Turkmenistan.
To reliably determine the authenticity of banknotes and coins in circulation in the country, it is necessary to verify at least five security features. Information on these features can be found on the official website of the Central Bank at http://www.cbt.tm.
