A city ahead of its time

Turkmenistan’s state policy, being successfully implemented by our esteemed President, is achieving great success. One of Turkmenistan’s grandiose achievements in recent years is the construction of the city of Arkadag.
According to the vision of the initiator and creator of this grandiose megaproject the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, this unique city combines modern IT technologies and original architectural solutions, representing a synthesis of the latest trends in global urban development and the best traditional architectural traditions of both the East and West. The implementation of this ultra-modern megaproject, unique in the region, is a vivid demonstration of the economic strength of modern independent and neutral Turkmenistan, which successfully implements large-scale projects.
The names “City of Youth,” “City of Transformation” and “City of Environmental Well-Being” attest to its immense popularity. Built in one of the most beautiful localities of the Kopetdag Mountains, it is a model of environmental well-being and harmonious coexistence with the surrounding nature.
Since its opening, the city of Arkadag has received several international certificates for its high indices in smart urban development, innovative potential and environmental sustainability. The construction of the innovative city is planned in two phases, with the second phase currently underway. Social, administrative and industrial facilities are being built during this period. The work is being carried out with high quality and in accordance with international standards.
A key feature of Arkadag City is the significant attention paid to environmental issues, in line with the demands of the times. From the construction of the first buildings until today, environmentally friendly materials have been used. Various comprehensive measures are being implemented to ensure environmental well-being. Landscaping and planting projects are being effectively implemented. Public transportation, service centers, industrial facilities under construction, public transportation infrastructure, irrigation systems, lighting and video surveillance systems fully comply with environmental requirements. The awarding of the Certificate of Excellence from Hangzhou Dianzi University of the People’s Republic of China to the smart city of Arkadag as an outstanding green and environmentally friendly city is further evidence of the recognition of the new city’s architectural design and favorable environmental conditions.
State programs implemented in the period of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State are aimed at the comprehensive development of all regions, including the cities of Arkadag and Ashgabat. Reforms, implemented in the country, promote the development of education, culture, science, broad international cooperation and improved living standards.
