President of Turkmenistan proposed to intensify cooperation with the SCO countries in the energy sector

The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the People's Republic of China, took part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit on September 1, TDH reports.

The SCO+ format is a unique partnership platform within which the Organization's member states interact with countries that are not members but are interested in developing multifaceted relations. It allows for an expansion of the circle of cooperation participants, including observer states, dialogue partners and other invited countries. The main goal of the SCO+ format is to strengthen economic and cultural ties over a wider geographic area.

At the SCO+ Summit, the President of Turkmenistan delivered a speech in which he described the defining vectors of relations between our country and the SCO, including various economic sectors.

Among the priorities, Serdar Berdimuhamedov singled out transport and logistics, communications, energy, trade, and industrial cooperation"

In particular, the head of state declared his readiness for closer cooperation in the energy sector with the SCO countries.

"We are in favor of closer cooperation in the energy sector. Turkmenistan is ready to increase the volume of natural gas supplies to the SCO countries," Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.

The President of Turkmenistan also declared his readiness to discuss the possibility of supplying Turkmen electricity to the SCO countries.

"Today, we are also focusing on the electric power industry. We are open to discussing the practical aspects of electricity supplies, expanding directions and volumes. In general, we consider the electric power industry as one of the priorities of cooperation with the SCO," the head of Turkmenistan said.
