Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation was held in Moscow

A meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov was held in Moscow on August 28, the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

The heads of the foreign policy departments noted with satisfaction the fruitful nature of the interstate dialogue, built on the principles of deep strategic partnership.

Having emphasized the key role of contacts at the highest and high levels, the participants agreed that these meetings are the main factor in strengthening bilateral cooperation with a view to the long-term perspective.

During the talks, the parties analyzed and assessed the current state of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, reviewed the implementation of previously reached agreements, and discussed joint actions for the future.

A common desire to intensify trade and economic cooperation was expressed. The ministers emphasized that the activities of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, where specific plans and projects are being implemented, serve as an effective mechanism for interstate dialogue that is sustainable and long-term.

According to the mutual opinion of the parties, the spheres of science, education, culture and art have become an effective tool for bringing the friendly Turkmen and Russian peoples closer together.

During the meeting, the positive experience of joint activities within the framework of international organizations was noted. The fruitful nature of the Turkmen-Russian partnership at the UN, CIS, Caspian Five, and the Central Asia-Russia format was emphasized.

Particular attention was paid to the development of five-way cooperation in the Caspian region. At the same time, it was noted that today the problems of the Caspian Sea go far beyond regional boundaries and require a comprehensive international approach, primarily at the UN level.

The diplomats voiced the mutual readiness of the parties to continue building up multilateral cooperation.
