On March 27, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the Central Asia-EU ministerial meeting, TDH reports.

The EU High Representative stressed that the European Union highly appreciates the successes achieved by Turkmenistan in all areas.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the results of the regular meeting in Ashgabat of the heads of the foreign ministries of the Central Asian countries and the European Union will contribute to the deepening of multilateral relations with the European Union.

As noted, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to cooperation with the EU in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. In recent years, interaction between Turkmenistan and the European Union has been successfully carried out both at the bilateral and multilateral levels, the news agency writes.

Particular attention at the meeting was paid to the partnership in the format of "Central Asia-European Union". Given the potential of the Central Asian states, the development of effective and mutually beneficial cooperation with the European Union is of great importance for the region.

In this regard, it was noted that the first summit "Central Asia-European Union", which will be held in Samarkand of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is designed to facilitate the establishment of a multifaceted and long-term partnership on a regular basis.

During the discussion of the prospects for expanding cooperation, it was emphasized that close dialogue with the European Union is carried out within the framework of the implementation of programs aimed at the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan. Thus, a number of large projects in the field of transport communications in the Eurasian space are being implemented in stages.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan, together with the countries of the region and international organizations, is actively developing such promising transport corridors as North-South and East-West. In this regard, confidence was expressed that transport corridors will become a reliable bridge for expanding cooperation with the countries of the Eurasian continent in the trade and economic sphere. Having highly assessed the level of development of the multifaceted dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union, the head of state confirmed our country's commitment to its expansion.
