Turkmenistan delegation discusses development of cooperation in oil and gas sector and transport in Tehran

The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Rashid Meredov held meetings on development of cooperation in the fuel and energy sector and transport during the visit to Tehran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported on February 11.

During the meeting with Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, current issues and prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas sector were discussed. The parties noted the existence of great opportunities for realizing the potential of the two countries.

During the meeting with Iranian Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi, the parties noted the effectiveness of the negotiations held over the past year and confirmed their focus on enhancing cooperation. During the meeting, the state and prospects of cooperation in the field of electric power industry and rational use of water resources were discussed.

In this regard, the importance of coordinated activities between the relevant institutions of Turkmenistan and Iran was highlighted.

At a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, the head of the Transport Industry and Development Company, Hushang Bazvand, a positive experience of cooperation was noted, including the participation of Iranian companies in projects for the construction of highways in Turkmenistan.

The parties reviewed the progress of the implementation of the agreements reached following the results of the latest meetings of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

Mutual interest in expanding bilateral partnership was expressed.

The visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to Iran continues.

It should be noted that at the beginning of the week, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the issues of further development of bilateral cooperation in the fuel and energy sector and transport by telephone.
