Parliamentarians of Turkmenistan and the EU discussed the possibility of expanding trade and investment ties

The expansion of trade and investment ties between Turkmenistan and the European Union was discussed by the participants of the 7th Interparliamentary Meeting of Turkmenistan and the European Union, which was held in the building of the European Parliament in Brussels, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation, as well as the possibility of establishing new areas of interaction. They discussed Turkmenistan's efforts to diversify the economy and expand trade and investment ties with the European Union.
The delegations expressed interest in deepening economic relations. The Turkmen side announced legislative measures aimed at improving market accessibility and stimulating foreign investment, ensuring equal conditions for all partners.
The meeting emphasized the strategic importance of Central Asia as a bridge between Europe and Asia. In this regard, issues of partnership in the field of transport and infrastructure were discussed, including current and planned regional transport initiatives aimed at strengthening connectivity. Participants also noted the successful launch of the coordination platform on transport between Central Asia and the European Union in Ashgabat in October 2024 during the visit of European Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen to Turkmenistan.
