On October 30, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation from the Russian side Alexey Overchuk, TDH reports.

As the head of state noted, Turkmenistan, implementing a foreign policy course based on the principles of positive neutrality, constructively interacts with Russia in a multilateral format, at authoritative international venues.

In this regard, Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the high level and importance of the XVI BRICS Summit held in Tatarstan, which became an open platform for exchanging views and discussing topical issues of interstate cooperation.

Noting the importance of Alexey Overchuk's current visit to Ashgabat in maintaining regular intergovernmental dialogue between the two countries, the President wished fruitful negotiations with his Turkmen colleagues aimed at promoting mutually beneficial partnership.

During the meeting, an interested exchange of views took place on priority aspects of bilateral cooperation. It was noted that Turkmen-Russian relations are currently developing successfully in all areas. Political dialogue is being consistently strengthened, and active inter-parliamentary interaction is being carried out. Productive ties have been established between Turkmenistan and the regions and subjects of the Russian Federation.

The key area of Turkmen-Russian cooperation was identified as the trade and economic sphere. For many years, the Russian Federation has been one of Turkmenistan's leading trade partners. The Intergovernmental Commission, within the framework of which efforts are coordinated on the entire range of issues of bilateral partnership, is working effectively.

An equally important area of Turkmen-Russian cooperation is the humanitarian sphere. In this area, contacts in the areas of education, science and culture, as well as healthcare, occupy a special place.

In this context, the intention of both countries to increase mutually beneficial cooperation, which meets mutual long-term interests and the strategy of interstate relations, was confirmed.
