Ashgabat, October 10 – Talks were held between President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who arrived in Turkmenistan on an official visit, TDH reports.

Among the important topics discussed during the talks, held in an expanded format with the participation of members of the official delegations of the two countries, which took place at the Oguz Khan Presidential Palace Complex, was a discussion of the possibilities for further developing cooperation in the energy and transport sectors.

As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, Turkmenistan is counting on the continuation and expansion of cooperation in the energy sector. In the overall asset, there is already a large implemented energy project – the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed our country's readiness to consider together with Kazakh partners the possibilities for a significant increase in energy supplies and expanding their transit configuration.

Transport and logistics are also a strategic area of partnership, which is due to the extensive capabilities of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in forming transport and transit corridors along the East-West and North-South lines. Here, our country fully shares the initiatives on the need to lay transcontinental highways across the territory of Central Asia, Serdar Berdimuhamedov continued.

The head of Turkmenistan highly appreciated the level of cooperation achieved in various sectors, the experience gained at the government and departmental levels. In general, partnership in this direction is developing consistently, with a tendency towards qualitative growth, the President of Turkmenistan said.

Among other areas where both countries can actively cooperate, the head of Turkmenistan singled out the agro-industrial complex, the chemical industry, engineering, textile production, and a number of other industries.
