with the commissioning of facilities and laying new ones between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, great prospects for wide-format cooperation open up. This was announced on September 11 at the ceremony of commissioning and starting of the construction of a number of infrastructure facilities with the participation of Afghanistan.
As the Hero-Arkadag noted, we are talking about seven objects, five of which were launched by the beginning of construction. Among them: the laying of the Serhetabat - Herat (a key link in the project of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline), the optical-fibre communication line along this route, the gas compressor station "Shatlyk-1" in the Mary region, the beginning of the construction of the 1st section of Turgundi - Sanabar highway, the Turgundi - Herat railway and the warehouse complex in the dry port of the Turgundi railway station.
Of the new facilities put into operation on this day - a railway bridge with a length of 177 meters on the Turkmen-Afghan border along the Serhetabat-Turgundi railway line, as well as the Nur-el-Jahad power plant in the Afghan province of Herat, built as part of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-Pakistan transmission line project.
“The projects mentioned are essential to build up economic, industrial and trade partnerships, they will provide access to goods and services in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the Middle East, in general over vast territories and Markets that are growing rapidly and will also allow to use the logistics potential,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.
“All this, in turn, will contribute to the strengthening of regional security, will create a favorable environment for interaction with international structures in the Afghan direction,” continued the head of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.
He also noted that "projects being implemented are fundamentally consistent with the long-term United Nations strategy and are designed to ensure sustainable development in Central and South Asia, as well as in neighboring states".
“I am convinced that the laying and commissioning of such objects will give a significant impetus to the economic development of Afghanistan and will ensure the effective work of its industrial and social spheres,” said the Hero-Arkadag.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also noted that “according to the calculations, with the implementation of these projects, the Afghan people will have at least 12,000 jobs, while the country itself will receive more than 1 billion US dollars a year, which will affect positively the dynamics of not only bilateral relations, but also the region. At the same time, they are focused on achieving a common goal, namely, to give a significant impetus to the development of the two countries, to ensure sustainable development in the region and, as a result, the prosperity and well-being of our peoples.
“We are also striving to form a balanced and reliable energy and transport and communication systems that are able to expand at an accelerated pace,” the Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmnnistan said.
