Representatives of Turkmenistan and Sweden discussed opportunities to expand cooperation

Turkmen-Swedish political consultations were held in Stockholm, during which opportunities to expand bilateral relations were discussed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

The Turkmen side was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova, and the Swedish side was headed by Head of the Department of Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Swedish Foreign Ministry Tobias Thyberg.

The parties exchanged views on issues of the global and regional agenda, such as ensuring peace and security, combating terrorism, ecology, transport, and energy. The importance of active interaction within the UN, OSCE, and EU was emphasized.

The Turkmen side invited the Swedish delegation to take part in various events organized by Turkmenistan and proposed using international platforms to organize high-level meetings.

The parties agreed on the importance of cooperation within the framework of the European Union's Global Gateway initiative and exploring new formats of interaction.

 The Turkmen delegation also held a meeting with Director General for Euro-Atlantic Affairs and Security Policy of the Swedish Foreign Ministry Torbjörn Solström. During the talks, the Swedish side noted its interest in developing cooperation with Central Asian countries, including Turkmenistan.

The parties agreed to explore the possibility of establishing cooperation in the field of ecology, energy, between business communities, as well as in the area of ​​culture and education.
