An international scientific conference entitled “Energy Perspectives, New Technologies, and Environmental Aspects in the Development of Hydrocarbon Resources” (TESC 2024) will be held in the city of Arkadag on June 5-6, 2024. The conference was organized by the Türkmengaz and Türkmennebit State Concerns and the Türkmengeologiýa State Corporation in collaboration with Turkmen-Forum and the British company GaffneyCline.

The fact that this important event will take place on World Environment Day highlights the critical importance of discussions in protecting the planet.

According to the organizers, as part of the conference program, there will be a UN workshop devoted to energy ties and trade in the interests of regional security.

The workshop “Enhancing Energy Security and Resilience of Energy Systems through Grid Connectivity and Trade” will discuss strengthening regional energy ties and trade cooperation. Emphasizing the vital role of cooperation in enhancing the resilience of energy systems and ensuring energy security throughout Central Asia, the workshop participants will consider important initiatives aimed at promoting greater connectivity and trade in the region.

The UNECE-ESCAP Energy Connectivity Program in Central Asia and the Caucasus is a focal point covering various projects aimed at developing energy infrastructure and facilitating cross-border energy trade. These efforts are aimed at promoting the stability and sustainable development of the energy sector.

In the discussion, representatives of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, the UN Economic Commission for Europe, ESCAP and the ADB Permanent Mission in Turkmenistan will take part.

On the side-lines of the conference, there will also be a special workshop of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE): “CO2 and Sulfur Dioxide Utilization and Hydrocarbon Resources Production”. Experts in the field will present cutting-edge research and practical applications that will demonstrate how these gases can be effectively used to reduce environmental impact. Workshop participants will gain valuable information on the latest developments and best practices in the field of sustainable hydrocarbon production.

At the workshop, representatives of SPE Russia and Caspian Region, G.P. Luzin Institute of Economic Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Union of Industrial and Environmental Safety Specialists (Russia) and others will deliver their speeches.
