The further development of effective and constructive relations with the Turkic states occupies an important place in the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan.  President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized this during a meeting on March 27 with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev, TDH reports.

In this regard, the emphasis was placed on the fact that since the accession of Turkmenistan as an observer country to the Organization of Turkic States, the dialogue in the format of this structure has been filled with new content.  One of the striking examples of this is the 15th meeting of the Council of Elders of the OTS, which was successfully held on March 11–12 in Ashgabat, at which agreements were reached and proposals were voiced for the further development of cooperation.

It was also noted that the admission of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan to the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkic Countries will make it possible in the future to effectively use this platform for the development of economic partnership between the member states of the OTS.

The head of state and his guest noted the dynamic nature of the dialogue with the International Organization of Turkic Culture - TURKSOY, aimed at preserving, studying and popularizing the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples in the world.  At the same time, the significant contribution of Turkmenistan to increasing interstate cooperation in the humanitarian sphere was noted.

In this regard, it was emphasized that the Organization attaches special importance to strengthening productive cooperation with Turkmenistan, which has observer status in the OTS.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that he was glad to welcome the head of the Organization to the ancient and hospitable Turkmen land, who took part in the events held the day before on the occasion of the proclamation of the city of Anau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024.

In this context, the head of state expressed his firm conviction that such actions are intended to contribute not only to the popularization of the national traditions of the Turkmen people, but will also become an important step in expanding cultural exchanges between Turkic peoples connected by common historical roots.

The head of state and his guest stated that cultural and spiritual traditions rooted in ancient times serve as a solid basis for deepening ties between Turkic-speaking countries.

One of the topics of discussion was the celebration in Turkmenistan of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi, whose works are the property of the entire Turkic world.  As noted, in this regard, numerous events are planned aimed at studying and disseminating the literary heritage of the great Turkmen poet.

Turkmenistan welcomes the active participation of the OTS in these actions, Serdar Berdimuhamedov said, confirming its readiness to consider constructive proposals to bring joint cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

In this regard, it was noted that expanding the range of programs and projects in various fields, and primarily in the areas of education, science and culture, will serve to successfully promote interstate partnership and fill it with specific content.
