In recent years, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan has grown 5 times, reaching $902 million last year.  This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev following a meeting with his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Tashkent, according to the video of the information program "Watan" of the Turkmen television.

 - Trade turnover increased by 70% last year and reached $902 million.  We have never had this.  For half a year - more than 400 million, - Sh. Mirziyoyev said, adding that “these figures are not the limit.”

According to him, there are all opportunities to bring the volume of trade to more than 1 billion US dollars by the end of this year, and in the medium term it can be doubled, because there is every reason for this.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov is visiting Uzbekistan for the first time as President of Turkmenistan on July 14-15 on a two-day state visit.

Among the specific areas and industries where the two countries have great opportunities to increase cooperation, the agro-industrial complex, energy, chemical and petrochemical industries, mechanical engineering, textile and pharmaceutical industries were singled out.
