The summit of the heads of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, held on August 4 in Ashgabat, will give a new impetus to interstate cooperation.  This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in a letter addressed to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

“I am sure that the trilateral Summit of the heads of state of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, held for the first time on your initiative, will give a new impetus to the development of our interstate cooperation,” Sh. Mirziyoyev said in a message, the text of which was published on Wednesday in the media of Turkmenistan.

As the President of Uzbekistan noted, during the talks on Turkmen soil, issues of joint and rational use of regional water resources, determination of common prospects in the field of energy, full use of existing opportunities for expanding transport and transit potential were discussed in detail.

At the same time, Mirziyoyev stressed that experts and specialists have begun to develop specific measures for the full and practical implementation of the agreements.

“Adoption of the Joint Statement following the results of the summit, aimed at strengthening the centuries-old friendship of our fraternal peoples and expressing our common aspirations, has become an important historical event on the path of further rapprochement between our countries,” the President of Uzbekistan concluded.
