MFA of Turkmenistan discussed intensifying long-standing cooperation with a Malaysian delegation

On October 9, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Akhmed Gurbanov met with a Malaysian delegation led by Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, according to the ministry's website.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues of Turkmen-Malaysian relations in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. They discussed further intensifying long-standing cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect and consideration of interests.

The meeting participants exchanged views on the development of bilateral trade and economic relations, with investment being identified as a priority.

In this context, the parties noted the successful holding of the International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investment in the Economy of Turkmenistan in Kuala Lumpur.

Particular attention was paid to the oil and gas industry, including Turkmenistan's long-standing cooperation with the Malaysian company Petronas.

During the conversation, the parties discussed ways to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties, particularly in education and tourism.
