225 Convicts Pardoned for Turkmenistan's Independence Day

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree pardoning 225 citizens convicted of various crimes on the occasion of Turkmenistan's upcoming Independence Day. The decree was published in the country's central media on September 26.
As noted in the document, the President signed this decree "guided by the principles of mercy and humanism bequeathed by our great ancestors, with the aim of further strengthening the unity and cohesion of Turkmen society and each family."
Announcing his decision at a government meeting on September 25, the head of state instructed law enforcement officials to take all necessary measures to ensure that the released citizens can return to their families as soon as possible, TDH reports.
