Turkmenistan is ready to develop relations with France in a bilateral and multilateral format, including within the framework of cooperation with the European Union. This was stated By President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a meeting with the new French Ambassador Isabelle Guinel.

Presenting the head of state with her credentials, the head of the French diplomatic mission in Ashgabat conveyed greetings from President Emmanuel Macron.

Isabelle Guinel noted the personal Contribution of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the development of Turkmen-French relations in the fields of politics, economy, and culture, and appreciated the great support provided at the highest level for the implementation of major joint projects and the activities of French companies in Turkmenistan.

Exchanging views on the state and potential of cooperation, the Turkmen leader and the French envoy confirmed the parties ' desire to diversify the partnership.

Among the key areas of cooperation, the President of Turkmenistan noted the fuel and energy sector, trade, communications, ecology and water management, and urban development. Equally important is the development of dialogue in the fields of science, education, health, sports and tourism, space, archeology and the arts.

According to the Ambassador, establishing contacts between French horse breeders and dog handlers with the international associations of Akhal-Teke horse breeding and "Turkmen Alabay", whose headquarters are located in Ashgabat, is also an interesting undertaking.

A separate topic of discussion was the upcoming events and joint work in 2021, which was declared the International year of peace and trust by the UN on the initiative Of the President of Turkmenistan.
