Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov: work begun on liberalization of the economy of Turkmenistan should be continued

The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to continue the work begun on the liberalization of the economy, addressing the Vice-Chairman at a government meeting last Friday, at which the results of the country's economic development for nine months of 2020 were summed up.
- Despite the difficulties that have developed as a result of the pandemic, it is necessary to accelerate the implementation of the planned reforms aimed at improving the investment climate, bringing the financial system to a modern state and forming a market economy in accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan, - the President said.
The work begun on the liberalization of the economy, including the energy market, the development of competition, the revitalization of business, and the reduction of the share of state-owned sectors of the national economic complex should be continued, the head of Turkmenistan emphasized.
“Successful implementation of the outlined tasks will allow us to achieve a steady increase in the flow of capital investments in our country in the medium term,” - Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, ordering to prepare specific proposals in the designated areas.
At a meeting of the government, Minister of Finance and Economy Muhammetgeldi Serdarov said that as of October 1 of this year, the implementation of the revenue side of the country's state budget amounted to 109.4%, and the expenditure side - 91.2%.
Serdarov also noted that in the first nine months of 2020, 53 objects of state property were privatized in the country and 126.1 million manat was transferred to the state budget, 122 million manat was received for renting state property. According to the results of three quarters, the ratio to GDP of the volume of investments directed to the development of the national economy was 21.3%.
