In June of this year, the United States exported about 5 million barrels of oil from the strategic oil reserves, media reported, citing customs statistics and sources.

According to Interfax, citing US customs data, 470,000 barrels of oil were sent to Trieste, Italy, from a warehouse in Texas.  Trieste has a pipeline that brings oil to refineries in Central Europe.

A division of the French oil company Total Energies - Atlantic Trading & Marketing - exported 2 batches of 560,000 barrels each, according to customs statistics.

Crude oil cargoes from the strategic reserve were also heading to the Netherlands and the Reliance refinery in India, an industry source said.

The export of fuel from strategic reserves testifies to Washington's attempts to reduce the losses of Western allies against the background of their refusals from Russian supplies.  At the same time, the export of oil abroad complicates the situation of US President Joe Biden against the backdrop of a sharp rise in gasoline and diesel prices in the United States, media say.

Last month, the strategic stock of oil in the United States fell to its lowest level since 1986, reports said.

At the end of March this year, Biden announced that he had decided to send an average of 1 million barrels of oil per day to the market from the US strategic reserve over the next six months.

According to the American president, this is the largest amount of oil released from the US strategic reserve in history.
