President of Turkmenistan discussed promising areas of cooperation with representatives of the US business community

 President Serdar Berdimuhamedov last Tuesday received Executive Director of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council Eric Stewart and Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Nicklaus Companies John Reese, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

 During the meeting, the guests noted the desire of American business representatives to comprehensively deepen the constructive dialogue established in recent years with neutral Turkmenistan.

 As Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized, the main goal of the foreign economic course of Turkmenistan is to establish business cooperation on an equal basis with all interested partners, including the largest US companies.

 “Turkmenistan, which is implementing the strategy of diversifying the economy by actively attracting the best world experience and advanced technologies, is open to constructive interaction and welcomes the desire of the American business community to strengthen its position in the Turkmen market,” the President said.

 The head of Turkmenistan and his guests stated that there is a solid potential for further development of the interstate dialogue.  In this regard, it was noted that over the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the United States, a rich experience of cooperation has been accumulated.  Companies such as John Deere, Case, General Electric, Boeing successfully operate in the Turkmen market.

 Given the favorable investment climate and the optimal legal mechanism for doing business, the guests expressed the intention of US business circles to invest in the development of the Turkmen economy and take part in ongoing large-scale projects and programs.

 A separate topic of discussion was the activities of the Business Council «Turkmenistan-USA» and its role in strengthening interstate economic relations.  In this regard, it was emphasized that the business meetings, forums and exhibitions organized by this structure contribute to establishing contacts between the public and private circles of both countries.

 Among the priority areas of cooperation, the trade and economic sphere, the fuel and energy sector, transport and communications, agriculture, renewable energy, the chemical and food industries, and ecology were identified.

 Speaking about the opening prospects for bilateral business cooperation, Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed the readiness of the Turkmen side to consider new proposals for further expanding cooperation.
