On Sunday, as part of a working visit to Kabul, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a number of meetings with high-ranking officials of Afghanistan, as a result of which security guarantees were obtained for the implementation of infrastructure projects in the neighboring country, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.

At the meetings, the parties exchanged views on political and economic ties, discussed the situation in the field of security and supplies of humanitarian aid, and also touched upon the issue of intensifying the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line (  TAP) and the railway from Turkmenistan to some provinces of Afghanistan.

“We want to launch national projects between the two countries as soon as possible, because all the necessary conditions have been created for their implementation, including security,” said Abdulsalom Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan.

During constructive conversations with Afghan Defense Minister Muhammad Yakub and acting  Minister of Internal Affairs Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Afghan side said that the security of all joint economic projects will be ensured.

As noted, the parties support joint projects between the two countries, including the construction of a railway and the TAPI gas pipeline project, as well as the TAP power transmission line.

“We will spare no effort to ensure the security of infrastructure and economic projects between the two countries,” said the head of the Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan.
