Issues of expanding Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation in industry, energy, transport discussed in Tashkent

Issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation, strengthening bilateral partnership in the field of energy, transport and transit were discussed in Tashkent. There the sixteenth meeting of the joint Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation was held recently, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
From the Turkmen side, the meeting was attended by the heads of ministries and departments of the country, chaired by Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Esenmyrat Orazgeldyev. The Uzbek delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov.
The meeting participants discussed the realisation of joint activities to implement the decisions of the fifteenth meeting of the Commission.
The parties noted the fruitful results of bilateral meetings between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The great merits of the leaders of the two countries in the creation of the Commission, contributing to the further development of bilateral relations, were emphasized.
Following the meeting, the Protocol of the sixteenth meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission was signed.
Soon, a government delegation headed by the President of Turkmenistan will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan, during which a package of cooperation documents will be signed.
