TAPI and other infrastructure projects – Turkmenistan's contribution to the peaceful development of Afghanistan

The work carried out by Ashgabat on the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India gas pipeline (TAPI), power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication along the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan (TAP) route is a concrete contribution of Turkmenistan to the peaceful development of Afghanistan, its integration into the system of regional and world economic relations. This was emphasized at the meeting of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with Chairman of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkir, who visited Ashgabat on a working visit.
During the meeting held on Monday, issues of regional security and the situation in Afghanistan were discussed.
The guest noted the great contribution of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, located in Ashgabat, to ensuring political stability in the region, as well as peace and social stability in the neighboring country.
It was also noted that today, among the important areas of the Turkmenistan–UN partnership are ensuring peace and security, sustainable energy and transport, solving economic, social, humanitarian and environmental issues, and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also noted that in the near future it is planned to consider the draft Resolutions of the General Assembly prepared by the Turkmen side on ensuring sustainable transport communications in emergency situations and on cooperation between the UN and the Economic Cooperation Organization at the UN Headquarters in New York.
