About 20.7 million tons of Turkmen oil transported via the BTC pipeline in three years

Over the past three years, about 20.7 million tons of Turkmen oil and oil products have been transported to the world market via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. Energy Minister of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov said this at the 4th meeting of the energy ministers of the countries participating in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), which was recently held in Baku.
The videoconference was attended by high-ranking representatives of Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, as well as a number of international organizations.
Shahbazov also emphasized the role of the Southern Gas Corridor in the energy integration of the region. «This year, 2.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas were exported to Turkish consumers through TANAP and 2.8 billion cubic meters to European consumers through TAP», the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry said.
Following the meeting, the «Baku Declaration» was adopted with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the energy sector within the ECO. The document provides for broad interaction between the organization's member states in the supply of crude oil, natural gas, petrochemicals and petroleum products, the creation of electrical networks, regional electricity trade, clean energy sources, energy efficiency, financing the transition to clean energy in accordance with global steps to combat climate change.
