President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Ashgabat". The resolution was adopted by the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan on the eve of the City Day - May 25 on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the official foundation of Ashgabat.
According to the text of the decree, this title was awarded "Taking into account the outstanding merits and personal contribution of the Honored Architect of Turkmenistan Arkadag the President to the political, economic and cultural development of the city of Ashgabat, ... the glorification of the white marble city of Ashgabat in the world as one of the main centers of cultural development of mankind, the formation of a modern urban structure and the wishes of the residents of the capital, as well as in connection with the 140th anniversary of the founding of the city of Ashgabat, celebrated in the year of the glorious 30th anniversary of our sacred Independence, which are important dates of the year "Turkmenistan - Homeland of peace and trust".
On the occasion of the glorious anniversary of our capital, the President congratulated his compatriots on the anniversary of Ashgabat. "Currently, within the framework of the capital's development program, we are building up Ashgabat with modern residential complexes, hotels, shopping and entertainment centers, and social and cultural facilities. In recent years, many parks and squares, green spaces have appeared in the capital. We attach great importance to the improvement and greening of Ashgabat," the Turkmen leader said in his address.
"Our main goal is to transform the architectural appearance of Ashgabat, create favorable conditions for the life, work and recreation of citizens, increase the level of social protection of the population, create new jobs, improve the service system, and maintain cleanliness and order in the city," the President stressed.
"We will continue to successfully continue the work on the development and improvement of Ashgabat, turning it into one of the most beautiful cities on the planet," the Presidential address says.
Today, in honor of the significant date, 400 new Hyundai ALL New super Aero City passenger buses and 200 Toyota Corolla taxis have left for the roads of the Turkmen capital. On this day, public transport in Ashgabat is free for all residents and guests.
Today, as part of the celebrations, 140 two-storey luxury cottages will be opened in the Choganli residential area. In the north of the capital, the foundation of the "smart" city "Ashgabat City" will also be laid, within the framework of which residential buildings of thirty or more floors will be built for the first time in the country.
Cultural events in honor of the 140th anniversary of Ashgabat are also planned in the regions of the country.
