Foreign Ministry: Turkmenistan proposes to strengthen cooperation with the OSCE in the field of energy security and sustainable transport

Energy security and sustainable transport issues were discussed on Wednesday at an online meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
The parties stressed the importance of stable access to energy resources from the point of view of regional and global development. The Turkmen side stated that being one of the largest producers and suppliers of energy resources in the world, Turkmenistan continues to actively work to create flexible mechanisms for their supply to world markets. And in this regard, the country has already proposed the creation of a specialized OSCE structure - the Council on Sustainable Energy.
The meeting also discussed issues of expanding cooperation in the field of transport and environmental safety. In this context, the importance of the OSCE project "Promoting the Development of Green Ports and Connectivity in the Caspian Sea Region" was noted. Turkmenistan intends to contribute to the development of green ports, digitalization and facilitation of trade and transport communications in Central Asia and the Caucasus.
It was noted that expert meetings are continuing to study the possibility of preparing an OSCE Comprehensive Environmental Program.
