Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry held talks with the head of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan party

On Monday, February 22, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the head of the party of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan, Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.

The sides noted the development of bilateral relations in order to fully implement the agreements reached at the highest level between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. Marshal Dostum emphasized the efforts of the leadership of Turkmenistan to strengthen peace and security in the neighboring country, as well as to integrate Afghanistan into a stable course of economic development.

The parties expressed their commitment to join efforts in the early implementation of energy, communication, transport and other projects. In this context, the sides expressed mutual interest in the timely and effective implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India), the TAP power transmission line (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan), as well as new railway routes from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.

During the conversation, the importance of Turkmenistan's implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects aimed at further socio-economic development of Afghanistan and the region as a whole was highlighted.

The Turkmen side once again confirmed its readiness to continue an active dialogue in order to promote peaceful inter-Afghan negotiations, as well as to provide its political space for the next rounds.

During the talks, the parties agreed on the need to further strengthen and improve the mechanisms for achieving peace, sustainable development, stability and security in the region as a whole, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan notes.

The State Electricity Corporation «Turkmenenergo» will conclude with the company «Çalik Enerji Sanaýi we Tijaret A.Ş.» (Turkey) contract for the design and construction of a solar and wind power plant with a capacity of 10 MW.
