TEIF 2025 in Kuala Lumpur demonstrates Turkmenistan’s growing attractiveness

The International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investments into the Economy of Turkmenistan TEIF 2025, held on April 23-24 in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, has come to an end.
In the afternoon, delegates discussed the role of clean energy in creating a sustainable future, reducing methane emissions, CO2 and monetization opportunities during the final panel discussion. This session focused on Turkmenistan’s commitment to climate action, including efforts under the Global Methane Pledge and a joint project with the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) to improve the exchange of methane emissions data through the MARS system.
Turkmenistan’s initiatives in the Aral and Caspian Seas and cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in adapting to climate change in the region were also presented.
The session featured speeches by Myrad Archayev, Deputy Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmengas", Francesco La Camera, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) (via video address), Myrat Atajanov, Director of the Caspian Sea Institute, Antoine Halff, Chief Analyst and Co-Founder, Kayrros, Valerie Ducros, Executive Director of the Global Gas Center, Emri Hisham B. Yusof, Senior General Manager, Carbon Management, Exploration and Production, Petronas, Jean-Francois Gauthier, Senior Vice President, Strategy, GHGSat Inc., Mark Davis, CEO, Capterio (online), Clayton Nash, Director, Strategic Development, Tegre Corporation.
The speakers’ presentations covered topics on studying strategies to reduce methane and CO2 emissions in the oil and gas sector, including Turkmenistan’s commitment to the Global Methane Agreement (GMP) and productive cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO).
The speakers shared innovative solutions in carbon monetization, capture, use and storage. Policies and incentives for attracting investment in projects to reduce emissions and develop clean energy in line with global climate goals were discussed. Turkmenistan’s efforts in the field of sustainable development through the use of advanced technologies, renewable energy sources and regulatory acts were demonstrated. Turkmenistan’s progress in managing emissions was also shown using the example of the Darvaza crater.
A closing ceremony of the International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investments to the Economy of Turkmenistan was held at the end of the session. Its numerous participants adopted an Address to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
On the same day, pre-agreed meetings of heads of foreign companies with senior management of the oil and gas, financial, chemical, construction and energy sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan were held. Based on their results, a number of cooperation documents were signed.
The International Forum held in Kuala Lumpur, organized by the State Concerns "Turkmengas", "Turkmennebit" and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan in partnership with the ES "Turkmen Energy Forum", brought together global investors, politicians and industry leaders to explore new frontiers of economic cooperation. This major event, which was attended by 470 delegates from 42 countries, demonstrated the growing attractiveness of Turkmenistan as a key investment destination on the Eurasian continent.

The International Scientific and Practical Conference was held at the IUOG
On April 19, at the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshigeldi Kakaev, an International scientific and practical conference was held on the topic “Scientific worldview of students in the Epoch of the Revival of a new era of powerful state”. In addition to the participants of the II Open International Olympiad in Informatics students of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan and foreign countries, teachers and students of capital universities also took part in the event.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov assured Guterres of his intention to expand cooperation with the UN
The newly elected President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that he intends to continue to implement the foreign policy pursued by our country to expand cooperation with the UN, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

The heads of Turkmenistan and Pakistan discussed further interstate dialogue

The heads of a number of foreign countries discussed with the leaders of Turkmenistan the prospects for interstate cooperation
Last Tuesday, the leaders of a number of foreign countries had telephone conversations with Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and newly elected President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports. Among them are the leaders of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Pakistan and other countries.

Pakistan is preparing to start implementing the TAPI project after the second quarter of 2024
Pakistan, one of the four partners in the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project, expects to receive final approval by the end of the second quarter of 2024 to begin construction. This was announced by Inter State Gas Systems, a company operating under the auspices of the petroleum division of the Ministry of Energy of Pakistan and engaged in the implementation of strategic infrastructure projects in the gas industry.
