President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif discussed issues of enhancing cooperation in the energy sector in a telephone conversation on March 31, TDH reports.

As was noted during the conversation, fruitful cooperation is currently being carried out between Turkmenistan and Pakistan in all areas, including in the political and diplomatic, cultural and humanitarian, trade and economic, energy and transport and communications spheres. In this regard, the importance of further strengthening the bilateral partnership was emphasized.

During the conversation, it was noted that the energy sector is one of the priority areas of Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation. This is evidenced by the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India transnational gas pipeline, a high-voltage power transmission line, and a fiber-optic communication system along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route.

Stressing the importance of these projects, Shahbaz Sharif noted that Pakistan is interested in developing cooperation in this area.

Shahbaz Sharif invited the President of Turkmenistan and the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero Arkadag to visit Pakistan at any time convenient for them.

The interlocutors also congratulated each other and the friendly peoples of the two countries on the holy Eid al-Fitr.

At the end of the conversation, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shahbaz Sharif confirmed their readiness to further strengthen relations between Turkmenistan and Pakistan and their full support for efforts in this direction.

The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Pakistani side.
