The huge potential for cooperation in the energy sector was noted at the meeting on March 19 between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar and the CEO of the Botaş company Abdulvahid Fidan, who are on a visit to our country, TDH reports.

Hero-Arkadag expressed confidence that the visit of the delegation of the friendly country will be fruitful, and meetings with Turkmen colleagues will give a great impetus to the further development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation to participate in the forum in Ashgabat, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey noted that the proclamation of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust" at the initiative of Turkmenistan is evidence of recognition of the peace-loving foreign policy of our country by the international community.

Hero-Arkadag noted that Turkey is currently a major trade and economic partner of our country, occupying one of the leading positions in foreign trade turnover. In this regard, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also emphasized the huge potential for the development of productive cooperation in the fuel and energy, transport and communications and investment sectors at the bilateral and regional levels.

As noted, Turkmenistan is implementing a policy based on the modernization of the fuel and energy complex and the expansion of energy export routes to the world market through diversification. Our country is also implementing various projects to produce environmentally friendly high-quality products that are in great demand in the world and regional markets, based on the processing of hydrocarbon raw materials.

Having confirmed the readiness of Turkmenistan, which has the richest natural resources, to further intensify the partnership with Turkey in the energy sector, Hero-Arkadag noted that one of the important issues is the export of Turkmen natural gas to the fraternal country and further to European countries.

As reported, Turkmen natural gas is currently transported to the Republic of Turkey through the Islamic Republic of Iran under the SWAP scheme. With the commissioning of the power plant being built on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea, it will also be possible to export electricity across the sea to neighboring states, including Turkey and other countries.

Hero-Arkadag expressed Turkmenistan's readiness to consider specific proposals from the Turkish side in the above-mentioned areas and other issues of mutual interest, and to support its constructive initiatives.
